Bellever, Laughter Tor, Bellever Tor

14/02/2019 - Feeling almost like a Spring morning I set off to explore Bellever, an area I hadn't' been before and a place very popular with visitors, especially during the Summer months, but today I had the place to myself, not a sole in sight.
I planned my route via Google Earth, something that in my opinion is indispensable, you can learn so much before your visit. For instance I knew by keeping to the left hand side of the river I could cross over approx 2.2km down via stepping stones. I arrived just as the mist was lifting to present the East Dart river running beside the forest.
A warning, approximately 1.2km down you encounter a wall/closed off area, it has a stepping stile so I assumed it was fine to carry on beside the river. Do not travel this route, it's very boggy, instead turn left at the stile and go up and around as shown on the map.

The route will take you via Laughter Tor and onto Bellever Tor and is approx. 8km/5 miles in length. Remember to take spare change if using the designated parking areas. Cars and motorbikes pay £1 for up to two hours and £2 for over two hours.
